Pricing
Vaelyra is licensed per seat, where a seat is one installation on one machine. There are no user accounts and no per-user fees. We price by quotation, so tell us how many seats you need and we send a figure by email. Try the free demo first, and when you are ready a licence key turns the same install into the full version, so everything you set up during evaluation stays in place.
- What a seat is
- One seat licenses Vaelyra on one machine. A shared ward laptop used by five researchers counts as one seat, while one researcher working on both an office machine and a laptop uses two. Seats are counted per install, so they follow the machine rather than the person.
- What is included
- The full Electronic Data Capture application on macOS and Windows, with unlimited datasets, unlimited records and parameters, voice entry, and export to statistical analysis software like SPSS or JASP in their native format, alongside Excel, CSV, and a codebook PDF. Application updates are included for the duration of the licence. Speech recognition and storage stay on the machine itself, so there is no data processing agreement to negotiate.
- How buying works
- Request a quote on the purchase page with the number of seats you need. We send a quotation, then an invoice, and once it is paid you receive a licence key by email. You enter the key in the application under Settings and then License on each machine. We take no payment card and run no online checkout, which keeps things simple for institutional procurement.
- Renewal and expiry
- A licence runs for a year, and renewal is a new invoice against the same key, so your activated machines pick up the new date automatically. If a licence lapses, everything continues for 30 days while the application reminds you to renew. After that the application keeps every existing dataset fully readable and editable, and export and the creation of new datasets resume the moment the licence is renewed. Your data stays available throughout.
- Moving a seat
- When a machine is replaced or leaves the study, write to us and we release its seat so the key works on the new machine. A machine kept off the internet can be licensed with a licence file instead of online activation.
