Read the values aloud. Vaelyra writes them down.
Vaelyra is a desktop application for building analysis-ready datasets from clinical records you already hold. The data exists in discharge letters, electronic health records, emails, and earlier spreadsheets, but it sits scattered and unstructured. You work through your form one field at a time, reading each value aloud from the source in front of you, hearing it confirmed, and moving on. Every confirmed value is written to an encrypted database on your own machine, ready for export to SPSS, JASP, and other statistical software in their native formats.

Ninety seconds from a blank form to a finished dataset, taking in voice entry, study setup, progress, and export.
How it works
- Reading from the source
- Vaelyra walks through your form one field at a time. With the record, letter, or spreadsheet open in front of you, you read each value aloud, the application repeats it back, and the value is committed once you confirm it. Because the source is still in view, transcription mistakes are caught at the moment of entry rather than discovered later in the analysis.
- On-device processing
- Speech recognition runs entirely on your own computer. The audio is transcribed on the machine itself and stays there, so entry needs no cloud service, no account, and no network connection.
- Encrypted storage
- Records are stored in an encrypted database on the researcher's own computer. A copy of the database file on its own stays unreadable, which matters when a backup travels or a machine is handed in. Every change is recorded in an audit trail that is always on.
- Analysis-ready export
- When abstraction is complete, export produces a file for statistical analysis software like SPSS or JASP in their native format, with variables, labels, measurement levels, and types already defined, so analysis starts from a clean dataset rather than a spreadsheet.
Vaelyra is not a trial-capture system. It is built for the retrospective work, the chart reviews, registries, audits, and secondary analyses, where the data already exists and the task is getting it into shape.
Licensed per seat, priced by quotation.
A seat is one installation on one machine, with no user accounts and no per-user fees. A shared ward laptop is one seat, however many researchers use it. Tell us how many seats you need and we send a figure by email.
Where the project stands
Vaelyra covers the full abstraction cycle. You define the set of data points to capture, read them in hands-free by voice with every entry checked against its expected format as you speak, review completeness and quality at a glance, and export clean, analysis-ready files. The data stays on the researcher's own computer throughout.
The free demo gives you the whole application to try, with two boundaries while it is unlicensed. It holds a single dataset, and export waits for a licence. A licence key opens both on the same install, so a study you set up while evaluating carries straight over. Vaelyra is in active use in a clinical study and under continued development.
